2nd Creative Networking Event
Technology Innovation Centre (tic), Millennium Point
Wednesday 15th December 2004 - From 6.00pm 'til LATE
Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham, B4 7XG

The second Creative Networks meeting at TIC was held on Wednesday 15th December 2004. It followed a different format to the inaugural session the previous month.

After food and refreshments in the restaurant the event focus moved to the Lecture Theatre on L2 which was soon full.

Attendees heard and saw presentations by Creative Pool partner-members, Black Country Chamber and Business Link’s Aidan Sheridan, and the Director of The Lighthouse Media Centre, Wolverhampton, Frank Challenger.

Interactive Media Centre Manager, Steve Smith, introduced ‘pitches’ from Forward Vision’s David Furmage and Higher Level Music’s Errol Lawson, who appealed for:

“….funding support and a production manager who would be able to co-ordinate the film production for the forthcoming STAR Awards, which celebrate the achievements of people of African descent in Music Film and Sport, and takes place at the I.C.C. in August this year."

Pixel Learning’s Kevin Conti also described how:
"….PIXEL Learning is a Coventry-based company which specialises in applying computer and videogame approaches to e-Learning in order to foster deep, enjoyable and effective learning experiences. The company is developing game engines and complimentary game creation and deployment systems which are aimed at enabling non-technical learning-professionals to create and manage games-based e-Learning".

The ‘audience’ then broke into informal sub-groups who engaged in ‘breakout sessions’ to identify how the Creative Networks format could be best enhanced to suit its user-group.
The results of these have been analysed by the tic team. Since then Peter Rigg has posted comprehensive details of the scope of the discussions and the conclusions and benefits our team has drawn from the exercise.

By the end of the event, there was a sense of real excitement dawning on several of the business operators involved. The chance meetings, old acquaintances renewed, novel ideas, and encouragement and support for innovation seem to be proving real catalysts for inspiration. We seem to be witnessing the beginnings of a new future for Creative Enterprise in the West Midlands – always a vision for, and hoped for benefit from, tic’s Creative Networks.

We hope to see you soon!
