The Media Vault Final Cut Pro Users Group
24th June 2004

Despite the unforeseen clash with the England vs Portugal quarter-final match in Euro 2004, the first ever meeting of the UK Final Cut User Group outside of London was very well attended!

Over 20 people came from various parts of the West Midlands, and beyond. Many were Final Cut Pro users at various levels – notably Rob Alexander, who has recently finished working on Tony Robinson’s latest series for Channel 4. Others came to find out just what Final Cut Pro might offer them.

Rick Young, who specialises in DV editing with Final Cut Pro and has written a number of books on the subject made the presentation. He first looked at Final Cut’s Media Management tools, followed by a demonstration of DVD Studio Pro 3 – Apple’s professional DVD authoring software.

Rick commented on the response: “This has to have been the most enthusiastic audience I have spoken to for a long time. The two hour meeting passed by incredibly quickly, we covered a lot of ground and there was plenty of audience interaction.”

The next User Group Meeting at the Media Vault is scheduled for Thursday 30th September 2004. Entry is free, but registration in advance is essential in order to attend. Please contact Chris Roberts on 0121 331 5400 or email: chris.roberts@tic.ac.uk for details.
