What is ERDF? The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) provides assistance in particular for investment which creates or maintains jobs, for infrastructure projects, for education and training in development of local businesses, and for research and development.

The Media Vault project will assist established Creative Industry SMEs either to modernise or to diversify into high value added technology markets and to encourage new companies to start-up and grow.

To become eligible for The Media Vault ERDF government subsidised assistance your company must meet the following requirements:

1. You must be working within the Creative Industries Sector and specifically within the Screen or Sound Based Media clusters. See details below....
2. Your company business premises must be located within the Objective 2 Region. See details below....
3. Your company must be a small to medium sized enterprise (SME). See details below....

NOTE: If you meet the above requirements you may be eligible for £2,500 worth of subsidised assistance for one or more of The Media Vault services - to find out what that could consist of and how it could help your business click here.

1. Creative Industry Sector - Screen Based Media Cluster
Companies must be working within the Creative Industries and specifically within the Screen or Sound Based Media cluster. The Screen Based Media Cluster involves any company that provides creative products or services, audio or visual which contribute to the production of screen based material. Screens can include computers, pda's, kiosks, television etc. Below is a list of the type of companies The Media Vault ERDF funding could help:

2. Objective 2 Region
The Objective 2 Region, defined by the European Commission as an area of industrial decline, is based upon council wards and may be difficult to identify. The West Midlands Objective 2 core area covers just under half the region's population (2.413 million). A further 1.108 million of the West Midlands population is eligible for transitional support within the Objective 2 programme.

3. SME Company Status
Companies must be "small and medium sized enterprises" (SMEs) defined by the European Commission in the official journal (April 1999). This requires the company to meet all of the following criteria:

Less than 250 employees
Annual turnover less than 50 million Euro (£34M)
Annual balance sheet less than 27 million Euro (£18M)
Not more than 25% owned by a company/s which are not SMEs
