Welcome
to Issue Five of the Newsletter for members of the tic
"Creative Networks"
'Creative Networks' at the Technology
Innovation Centre (tic) is about
forging links between screen and sound-based media companies
in the West Midlands. This includes the diverse, often
disparate, creative companies, freelancers and associated
businesses in the region.
'Creative Networks' seeks to promote successful business
development and collaboration. It contributes to the establishment
of a strong long-term screen-based Creative Industry in
the West Midlands through increased knowledge and use
of innovative technologies and creative practices.
Regular monthly face-to-face networking events are held
at tic. They offer opportunities for
companies to network, make pitches and detail the resources
they are seeking or the projects and challenges they are
planning.
Visit our online portal www.creativenetworksonline.com
for up-to-date news, funding, business support, training
and tender opportunities.

| 2. Review of June's
Creative Networks Event - SUMMER PARTY |
Wednesday
29th June - From 6.00pm ‘til LATE at tic, Millennium Point
tic’s Interactive Media Centre celebrated the success
of its Creative Networks events with a Summer Party on Wednesday
29th July 2005, hosted in the Millennium Point Hub and I-Bar.
Around 150 business owners, producers, artists and performers
braved a sudden summer thunderstorm to reach Millennium
Point for an extensive buffet with wine, fun and games,
and an opportunity for some real face-to-face, peer to peer
business networking.
In place of Lecture Theatre presentations, pitching and
showcasing - the mainstay of tic's monthly
networking events - this meeting was a more relaxed affair,
with entertainment. Some guests played soccer on the Playstation
2; others an oversized pub-version of the party game Connect
4. The brave cast caution to the winds and rode a Bucking
Bronco right in the middle of the Hub.
tic Centre Manager Steve Smith was beaten by just
one second by Jay Patel, but no-one could match the tenacity
of Chad Lewis of Ambitious Inc. who managed to stay on for
over a minute to win the Star Prize.
The collective buzz from guests gave a sense of
excitement and optimism about collaborative opportunities
The Creative Networks initiative has opened up. Everyone
felt that their passion for working in the region, coupled
with the potential for growth in the sector, would reap
long-term benefits and that The Creative Networks was an
ideal platform on which to express confidence in the future
of the Industry.
The I-Bar's, musical entertainment involved disco and karaoke
and featured the talents of local writers and vocalists
'Damien' and 'Denise Bryant', both from Know Boundryz ,
Yaz Alexander, Ann Arscott, Dean Alexander and his associates,
who presented rapper Zara a.k.a. Psycho. Mark Presdee's
Orchestra Of Chaos, gave an impromptu comedy performance
of their ‘Kebab And A Scuffle’ routine which caused great
hilarity.
The evening was brought to a close with a full-ensemble
finale and a rendition of ‘Angels’ by tic's
Interactive Media staff choir.
